Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the pharmaceutical field and more specifically the detailed presentation of the medicine pricing in Greece and other European countries. It also aims to make the reader familiar with the characteristics, problems and policies of the field of medicine. This field can be characterized as really interesting as it is not a mere scientific field but it is also binned with the citizens’ health and quality of life. This thesis describes theoretically the health sector and the basic health systems as well as there is an analytical presentation of the health system that prevails in Greece too. Moreover, advantages and disadvantages are presented and also there is an analytical description of its evolution until nowadays. In addition to this, in this thesis there are the characteristics of the pharmaceutical market as well as the pharmaceutical policy’s goals in Greece and in Europe. Issues which affect the Greek pharmaceutical market such as its basic statistic data, imports, exports, pharmaceutical expenses etc. are being analyzed. Moreover, the European pharmaceutical market gets under examination and evaluation and more specifically its basic financial data such as sells, costs etc., the depth it can affect the whole pharmaceutical industry as well as the challenges this field faces from the measuring policies and research and market expenses. Furthermore, the medicine pricing methods and the ways of pricing in Greece and in other European countries are presented. Also, the reader can learn about the advantages and disadvantages which occur from these ways of pricing as well as profit margins. Finally, failures and aspects of the pharmaceutical market are presented and the reader becomes aware of the conclusions and the suggestions that occur from the whole survey.
