Stock markets first appeared in the 11th century serving the needs of the societies of the time. Nowadays exchanges are the principal means of raising capital by companies and also serve as a means of savings. Historical events directly affect the evolution of stock. The same, of course, applies to the Greek stock exchange since it was founded in 1875 up till today. The stock market crash causes severe and sometimes long-tern financial crises. Imaging behavior of the stock market is performed by the use of index. Important indicators such as FTSE 100 England, CAC 40 France, DAX Germany, DJI USA and Japan N 225 are monitored daily from around the world. GDP, unemployment and inflation are the main factors determining the economy of each country. These figures and their relation are continuously monitored and analyzed by financial committees of each country but also by international economic organizations. In the practical part, quarterly data on GDP and the general price index for the years 2005-2012 was extracted. Granger causality method helps detect the relation between GDP and the general price index.
