Education has always been an essential human right in modern societies. The only way to fulfill this fundamental human need is provided by the educational system, especially nowadays, when the social and economic growth present huge and rapid progress. In order to gain access to these sectors, every person has to achieve the highest possible level of education. This has resulted to an increase in the proportion of persons who attempt to obtain a university degree, especially in the last decade. However, despite the fact that educational qualifications are the only way for a person to have the best possible professional prospects, there are some factors that affect the decision of young people to participate in tertiary education. The present study has to the aim of examining the factors which influence the decision of young people to choose a higher educational establishment. In conclusion, the institution of education is an integral part of the whole economic system and contributes to the development and progress of our country.
