The purpose of the current dissertation is to present a proposal for the creation of an environmental park for lake ‘’Pamvotida’’, conducted by the Hellenic Ornithological Society aiming to re-establish and develop the particular area. Throughout the thesis, an analytical re-establishment scenario will be thoroughly described. The scenario deals with the use of natural cleaning systems for wastewater treatment, for the foul water that ends up into the lake due to geographical and morphological factors. In particular, the dissertation proposes the application of horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetlands combined with stabilization ponds. The human activities in the area and especially the agricultural ones have brought up a plethora of negative consequences to the natural habitats of the lake. The absolute requirement for habitat reinstatement actions have led to the creation of an environmental park in a 2.000.000m2 area adjacent to the lake which belongs to Agricultural School of National Agricultural Research Foundation(N.AG.RE.F.) of Ministry of Rural Development and Food and to Municipality of Pamvotis. The dissertation also refers to the quality of the waters running through the wider area of Ioannina and the natural fluid waste handling systems, a modern way of dealing with waste incurring from household, agricultural and industry water use which can reduce the energy required dramatically while at the same time increasing the aesthetic, commercial and habitat values. Eventually, the dissertation presents analytically the scenario for the creation of constructed wetland developed through the use of AutoCAD designing tool as well as personal mathematical calculations.
