Greece is one of the most powerful and important naval states of the world and Greek commercial shipping (in step with the Tourism) is the most dynamic branch of the national economy. Piraeus constitutes an important international naval centre therefore several shipping companies (mainly of Greek interests) choose Piraeus for their activities. In order to support and organize and interlink the -so called- marine cluster, consisting of the whole mesh of activities relevant with shipping activities, it is necessary to create a Shipping Centre in Piraeus, after solving of a lot of problems. Nowadays, and after the fires of 2007, the subject has been swamped and the way that the political forces face the subject has changed. The disagreements mentioned before by far have been exceeded by new demands for extensive area of green (united park) and expropriation of spaces. Such demands, at first sight, seem to exclude the creation of a shipping centre in the region. The actual plans have been rendered inapplicable and a new perception is needed. The investigation of the possibility to find a new impulse in the creation of shipping centre in Piraeus, leads to the particular space of former Industrial Area of Piraeus, where many of the required conditions (urban, transport, geographic etc) do exist. This is what we examine in this work. The proposed solution promotes the idea that the reformation of former industrial area would be supposed to aim at enterprising the shipping centre, since this is something more than a simple real estate enterprise.
