This dissertation presents the design and implementation of Armoire, a web application for cataloging clothing items and planning outfits. The application is aimed at users who want to digitally organize their wardrobe, assemble outfits for specific occasions, and receive outfit suggestions.
The system was built as a three-tier application, with a React and TypeScript client, a Spring Boot (Java 21) REST API, and a MySQL database. The suggestion engine combines strict occasion-based filtering, a color-harmony hard filter, and score boosts derived from cosine similarity and Jaccard similarity over the history of saved and worn outfits. In addition, the application displays reminders for unworn items and purchase suggestions to close gaps in the user's wardrobe.
The dissertation includes a literature review of related scientific work, a specification of system requirements, the design of the architecture and database, and documentation of the application's operation through usage examples and a user manual. Finally, the expected benefits, limitations, and directions for future work are discussed, with emphasis on image-based clothing recognition.
Scientific area: Software Development / Web Applications / Recommender Systems.
