This thesis presents the design and implementation of ECHO, an innovative mobile application for personalized urban browsing. In an era where digital noise and information overload make it difficult to discover relevant opportunities, ECHO acts as an intelligent mediator between the local market and the consumer.
The application leverages the capabilities of Ubiquitous Computing by integrating a Weighted Scoring Algorithm. This algorithms achieves personalization by analyzing two key dimensions in real-time: the user’s dynamic preferences (“Vibes”) and their geographical proximity via the Fused Location Provider API . ECHO is developed as a native Android application using Kotlin and the modern Jetpack Compose framework, creating a reactive user interface based on Glassmorphism design principles.
The system is supported by a serverless architecture on Google Firebase, ensuring real-time data synchronization between the client and the administrator. The thesis details the MVVM architecture, data modelung in Cloud Firestore, and the secure offer redemption system using QR Codes. Through evaluation and use-case scenarios, it is demonstrated that ECHO significantly improves the browsing experience, reduces user cognitive load, and provides local businesses with a powerful targeted marketing tool.
