The present work is a comprehensive view by an artist and graduate of the Master’s
program of the University of Piraeus “Advanced Information Systems”, on the
pressing issue of the uncharted relationship between Artificial Intelligence and Art. In
order for the work to be positioned within the contemporary demands of artists as
well as within the most up-to-date state of the technological evolution of Artificial
Intelligence itself, the methodology was based, on the one hand, on the study of
contemporary literature concerning issues of creativity, authenticity, and intellectual
property rights, and, on the other hand, on qualitative research conducted through in-
depth interviews with artists from different fields of the arts, in order to identify the
concerns and thoughts of today’s creators. The results of the research highlight an
intense concern as well as a field of creative possibilities, raising questions such as
whether Artificial Intelligence is able to substitute human artistic creation, what it is
that renders creation a quintessentially human act, and in what ways Artificial
Intelligence transforms the contemporary artistic process.
