Climate variations have increasingly emerged as influential factors affecting multiple aspects of human activity, including public health. Environmental conditions shape patterns of morbidity and mortality, introducing a new layer of uncertainty in risk assessment. Elements such as rising temperatures, air pollution, and extreme weather events appear to be altering the epidemiological profile of populations, directly impacting individual safety and long-term health.
This thesis explores the impact of climate change on the insurance market, with a focus on life and health insurance. Specifically, it presents the main environmental and health-related factors associated with the climate crisis and analyzes how they influence biometric parameters used in actuarial science. Furthermore, the study examines available statistical data and case studies from both international and domestic insurance markets, aiming to assess the extent to which these developments have already affected or are likely to affect the sustainability and pricing of insurance products.
