This dissertation examines the role of business loans in the Greek banking system, focusing on the National Bank of Greece. The study aims to analyze the regulatory framework governing the provision of business loans and to explore the bank’s strategic approach in the current economic environment. Special attention is given to the impact of European and national banking regulations, credit risk management, and the contribution of business loans to financing the real economy. Furthermore, the economic dynamics affecting loan supply and demand, such as macroeconomic conditions, monetary policy, and developments in the financial system, are analyzed. Through this study, the challenges and opportunities faced by banks in granting business credit are highlighted, along with the importance of strategic adaptation to a changing regulatory and economic environment.
