This thesis analyzes the primary climate change policies of the United States and China in the energy sector during the post-Paris Agreement era. It focuses on three key areas: the energy transition, adaptation strategies, and the decarbonization of industrial sectors. By comparing the two largest emitters and their respective energy policy approaches, this study seeks to highlight both the convergences and divergences in their climate action trajectories. Chapter 1 introduces the Paris Agreement and provides a comparative analysis of the policy frameworks in China and the United States. Chapter 2 examines energy transition policies in both countries. Chapter 3 focuses on adaptation strategies to address climate vulnerabilities, while Chapter 4 analyzes decarbonization policies in the industrial sector. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the main findings and offers an overall assessment of the effectiveness of the examined policies.
