This study examines the comparative dynamics of container and vehicle handling terminals, with particular emphasis on the port of Piraeus. Through the analysis of infrastructure, operations, technological integration, and market position, the research highlights the distinct characteristics and challenges of each type of terminal. The findings show that the car terminal is more operationally mature, benefiting from strategic geographical advantages, efficient processes, and strong service performance, although it requires further technological upgrades and improvements in multimodal connectivity. In contrast, the container terminal faces significant constraints related to infrastructure capacity, compliance with environmental requirements, and hinterland accessibility, resulting in variability in user experience and operational efficiency. Despite advances in security and automation, the container terminal requires targeted investments and strategic reforms to meet modern supply chain requirements. The study highlights the importance of developing customized strategies for container and vehicle terminals, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and global role of ports as integrated logistics hubs.
