The field of health is a work environment that is distinguished for its complexity, with employees and management being of outmost importance for the quality and efficient provision of the services offered. The way of the providers are compensated in the health sector affects the formation of the level of the quality of the services provided, affecting a health system both in its economic efficiency and its productivity. The aim is to reduce costs and increase the quality of the services provided.
The purpose of the thesis is the presentation and analysis of provider compensation methods applied in health systems of various countries, among them and Greece. An analysis is made of methods such as Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs), Closed Unified Hospitals (ΚΕΝ), Capitation (reimbursement of primary care doctors), etc.
An analytical approach is made in the method of bundled payments which promotes the integration of services by facilitating the collaboration of doctors of different specialties and reimburses all the services required to treat a medical condition. Reference is also made to the advantages and disadvantages of the method.
The importance of the bundled payments lies in the fact that it prompts the transformation and redesign of the service delivery system to ensure high quality health services for all.
