The constant shifts in fashion trends, combined with the rise of fast-fashion retailers, have led to overconsumption, accelerated production rates, and excessive volumes of waste -practices that undermine the sustainability of the planet.
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the economic, cultural, and environmental impacts of fashion production and to investigate sustainable strategies.
Within this framework, the study examines the extent to which traditional techniques -such as weaving, embroidery, and plant-based dyeing -can constitute a sustainable option within the contemporary production system, both from an environmental and a business perspective, recognizing that they are not merely production techniques but also bearers of intangible cultural heritage, inextricably linked with society, the economy, and culture.
