This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a European Digital Identity
Wallet (EUDI Wallet) application on the Android platform, in alignment with the
specifications of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation. The main objective is to practically evaluate
the usability of the EUDI Wallet for issuing, storing, and presenting verifiable
credentials, offering users full control over their personal data.
The application has been developed based on the technical guidelines of the
Architecture Reference Framework (ARF). It supports credential issuance using the
OpenID4VCI standard and credential presentation to relying parties via OpenID4VP,
enabling both same-device and cross-device presentation flows. Additionally, a
companion demo verification application was developed to simulate a relying party
that receives and verifies the presented credentials.
The implementation makes use of the official libraries provided by the EUDI Wallet
Reference Implementation project. The thesis demonstrates that the EUDI Wallet can
significantly enhance the digital identity experience by providing a secure, privacy-
preserving, and user-friendly solution, with the potential for broad adoption across
digital services.
