Abstract

The thesis explores the balance between the protection of personal data and the freedom of journalistic expression within the framework of the GDPR. It analyzes the “journalistic exemption” of Article 85, which allows exceptions for the media, the right to be forgotten and its conflict with the need to preserve records, as well as the presumption of innocence in the digital era. It concludes that a responsible and balanced journalistic approach is necessary, ensuring the protection of personal data without undermining the freedom and independence of journalism.
