dc.description.abstract	Η Βιώσιμη Ανάπτυξη μετρά πολλά χρόνια παρουσίας στον οικονομικό χώρο, ωστόσο οι επιπτώσεις της κλιματικής αλλαγής κάνουν την εφαρμογή των επιταγών της πιο αναγκαία από ποτέ. Η χρήση των πυλώνων της Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης, δηλαδή των πυλώνων ESG, που περιλαμβάνουν το Περιβάλλον, την Κοινωνία και την Διακυβέρνηση, από τα χρηματιστήρια υποδηλώνει τη σημασία της βιωσιμότητας στον επιχειρησιακό κόσμο. Πλέον δημιουργούνται χρηματιστηριακοί δείκτες ESG, οι οποίοι βοηθούν τις επιχειρήσεις να παρακολουθούν τις επιδόσεις τους στις τρεις περιοχές ενδιαφέροντος της Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης. Η Ελλάδα δεν μένει πίσω, αλλά αντιθέτως ακολουθεί τις εξελίξεις, με το Χρηματιστήριο Αθηνών να δημιουργεί τον δείκτη βιωσιμότητας ATHEX ESG Index και την Μεθοδολογία Διαφάνειας ESG, έναν οδηγό πληροφοριών και κανόνων, με στόχο να βοηθήσει τις ελληνικές εταιρείες να ενσωματώσουν στις πρακτικές τους την Βιώσιμη Ανάπτυξη και να μετρήσουν τις επιδόσεις τους ως προς την βιωσιμότητα. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει η σχέση της οικονομικής απόδοσης των εταιρειών και του ESG, καθώς είναι σημαντικό να φανεί αν η επένδυση σε στρατηγικές ESG ενισχύει ή όχι την οικονομική απόδοση των εταιρειών, η οποία παρουσιάζεται μέσω εκτεταμένης βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης. Η εμπειρική μελέτη της παρούσας εργασίας μελετά την σχέση που έχει η πορεία του Ευρωπαϊκού δείκτη βιωσιμότητας Dow Jones Sustainability Index – Europe με τις αποδόσεις των μετοχών Ευρωπαϊκών εταιρειών.	el

dc.description.abstractEN	Sustainable Development counts many years of presence in the economic field, however the effects of climate change make the application of its imperatives more necessary than ever. The use of the pillars of Sustainable Development, i.e. the ESG pillars, which include Environment, Society and Governance, by stock exchanges indicates the importance of sustainability in the business world. ESG stock indices are now being created, which help companies monitor their performance in the three areas of focus of Sustainable Development. Greece is not lagging behind, but rather following developments, with the Athens Stock Exchange creating the ATHEX ESG Index and the ESG Transparency Methodology, a guide of information and rules, with the aim of helping Greek companies to integrate into their practices Sustainable Development and measure their sustainability performance. Of particular interest is the relationship between companies' financial performance and ESG, as it is important to see whether or not investing in ESG strategies enhances companies' financial performance, which is presented through an extensive literature review. The empirical study of this paper examines the relationship between the course of the European sustainability index Dow Jones Sustainability Index – Europe and the returns on the stocks of European companies.	el
