This study explores how sustainable practices in Cretan hotels correlate with visitor experience and overall satisfaction. The findings suggest that environmental accountability and comprehensive sustainability strategies can strengthen the destination’s competitiveness, provided they are seamlessly integrated into everyday operations. At the same time, active staff engagement and clear communication with travellers play a decisive role in shaping a positive perception of service quality. However, financial and administrative constraints hinder the adoption of advanced technologies and interventions, highlighting the urgency for targeted incentives from authorities and local stakeholders. Through multifaceted research and comparative analyses in island environments, it becomes evident that sustainable development is now a key requirement for modern travellers, who view immersive experiences as inextricably linked to respect for the natural environment.
