This thesis conducts a comprehensive analysis of sustainability indicators within the packaging industry, examining the integration of sustainable practices in business operations. The study encompasses foundational concepts of business sustainability, exploring its definition, conceptualization, and the benefits of its integration into corporate practices. Drawing on established frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and ISO 26000, the research provides an in-depth overview of various measurement methods and indicators used to assess corporate sustainability. Additionally, the thesis discusses commonly used frameworks and standards that shape sustainability practices in diverse industries. The role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a driver of sustainability is explored, emphasizing its impact on ethical business practices and societal well-being. Stakeholder engagement, the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the challenges associated with measuring corporate sustainability are also examined.
The exploration extends to the packaging industry, elucidating sustainability challenges, opportunities, and measurement methods specific to this sector.
