The first chapter provides a historical review of the industrial revolutions, after
first attempting to define the term "industrial revolution". In particular, an analysis is
made of each period and the development of technology in each of them.
In the second chapter, the technology of 3d printing is analysed. Initially, this
chapter introduces the reader to the general concept of printing as well as computerbased printing, which is now widespread. Then, by studying through the literature 3D
printing, its mode of operation, its types of technologies are documented, while special
emphasis is placed on its applications, advantages and challenges.
The third chapter is devoted to the study of the other technology of the subject of
the thesis, artificial intelligence. In this chapter, as in the previous one, a thorough
analysis is carried out, starting with the definition and historical development of this
concept, followed by a list of its main techniques, its applications in various fields and
its advantages.
The next chapter focuses on the link between the Fourth Industrial Revolution
and the technologies of 3D printing and artificial intelligence. More specifically, based
on the literature, the elements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and in particular its
technologies and CPS systems are given. This is followed by the research on how 3D
printing on the one hand and artificial intelligence on the other hand are related and
applied to the industrial revolution, based on the data and information collected and
presented in the above chapters. For a better understanding, corresponding examples
are also provided.
In the last chapter, the final conclusions of the work are presented, but with an
emphasis on the challenges and weaknesses that humanity is called upon to face in the
face of the range of technological and transformational developments.
