The health sector is a field that poses many risks to workers. Many jobs are considered to be hazardous positions and cause a significant burden on the health of workers. In particular, they may be exposed to various infectious diseases, receive radiation from various diagnostic machines, or even be exposed to infectious fluids from a syringe, which was not properly disposed of. A good way to reduce the risk of infectious diseases is to administer vaccines, if available. Various vaccines are available for viruses or bacteria that can prevent the spread of infectious diseases in health facilities. According to the WHO, it is strongly recommended that all workers in health facilities be vaccinated against infectious diseases. In this paper we will examine the flu vaccination. This specific vaccination is annual and is an important shield for the health of the workers as well as the inpatients. Research will be presented at the General Hospital of Athens Georgios Gennimatas in which doctors and nurses who work at the hospital participate. The purpose of the research is to present the beliefs of health workers regarding the flu vaccination process. The participants answered an anonymous questionnaire, which we will analyze in this paper. The aim of the paper is to reach a conclusion about the acceptance or not of the influenza vaccination by the workers and to reveal the beliefs that lead them to their final decision. The data from the questionnaires were processed through Microsoft Excel. The results of the study showed that healthcare workers, due to their beliefs regarding the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, as well as the lack of incentives for vaccination, tend to have low vaccination rates. Proper information about influenza vaccination and the establishment of incentives are the ways to potentially increase future vaccination rates among healthcare workers.
