The aim of this study is to examine, through a literature review, the concept of smart cities and their impact on human well-being. Specifically, it explores the intelligent way of life in urban environments and how it is linked to the perceived quality of life. The first chapter approaches conceptually the notion of the smart city, its various forms, the values it promotes, and the parameters considered crucial for its smooth operation. Following that, there is an overview of highly successful smart cities abroad and in Greece, briefly presenting the key elements that have made them spectacular examples of urban intelligence. The third chapter presents the city's influence on the citizen's sense of satisfaction and happiness by examining how the individual aspects of intelligence embodied within the city affect the level of well-being. Finally, some proposals are formulated for future investigations on the matter.
