Even though Greece is a country known for its many islands, the option of using the seaplane as a mean of transportation to connect the islands with each other and with the mainland has only recently been explored. In 2020 a new law voted by the government helps with the process of licencing and resolves bureaucratic issues that existed till recently. This paper attempts to apply a contingent valuation (CV) method in order to explore the factors that affect the level of willingness to pay in order to use the seaplane in the region of Ionian Islands. A CV survey was carried out with answers from 150 participants from this specific region. Overall, people seem to be willing to pay extra to use the seaplane in order to reduce their travel time. Although, as this is a new market entry, the participants haven’t actually used the services and therefore the model that is being explored is theoretical and is based on assumptions of hoe people might perceive their experience with seaplanes.
