Abstract
The challenges faced by the global community have led to the need to redefine the economic model that has prevailed until now, making it imperative to search for new models that promote sustainability. In the context of this redefinition, the concepts of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility are becoming more relevant than ever.
In Greece, the spread of the term sustainable development represents an important development in the social and business scene. This term has been incorporated into the public debate, encouraging an orientation towards a more integrated approach to development. In this context, domestic businesses are invited to actively contribute to the promotion of sustainable development by undertaking initiatives that integrate the dimensions of economic prosperity, social justice and environmental responsibility.
The main objective of this diploma thesis is, after presenting the concepts of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, to investigate the level of knowledge of these concepts by Greek SMEs. In addition, through a survey, it sought to determine whether domestic SMEs have realized the benefits they can derive from carrying out such initiatives, whether they intend to incorporate sustainable practices into their business strategy and to identify those factors that may hinder their adoption.
