This Master's thesis examines the emergence of climate-induced migrant-refugees as a major global trend arising from the impacts of climate change. The thesis explores the legal, political and humanitarian implications of climate-induced displacement, focusing on the identification and protection of people forced to flee their homes due to environmental factors. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, international legal frameworks and various studies, this paper aims to shed light on the multifaceted challenges posed by climate-displaced migrant refugees and propose possible policy responses to address this growing global issue.
This paper, provides the required evidence on the scale and impact of displacement in different regions and population groups, raising attention to an often neglected issue. It exposes a number of myths around the relationship between climate change, disasters and displacement, and suggests innovative ideas on how to frame the debate in order to develop better policies that make a real and positive difference.
