This diploma thesis was prepared within the framework of the postgraduate program of studies of the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus and specifically of the program of Applied Public Economics and Policy and focuses on innovation in the tourism sector and its evolution, a topic that has been of particular concern to researchers and scientists over the years.
In this diploma thesis, we analyze the concept of tourism, tourism product and innovation. There is an extensive analysis of the phenomenon of e-tourism and the contribution of the internet to the evolution of the tourism industry. We studied innovations in the tourism sector and how much internet has changed conditions and ways in which tourists search and analyze the available options they have. Finally, for our analysis we have used questionnaires such as research tools that aimed to understand how tourists choose destinations and which innovative methods they trust to organize their trip.
