This study dealt with the issue of family shipping businesses and leadership succession. The purpose of the work is the investigation of succession in family businesses. Also aimed at is how an active member of the family can be entrusted with the constant search for data regarding developments in the field of the family business and how they can be applied to the business.
Ensuring that the family business is well managed now and in the future is the key factor in its long-term success. Implementing a management succession plan and seeing it in action can give current owners the time they need to adjust to the new situation.
