Nowadays, in order for there to be a continuous development of society while ensuring the
sufficiency of natural resources and achieving a climate of security and stability, the adoption
of a new economic model of development is considered a necessary condition. What it will do
will be to reduce waste, but it will also reduce the need for new resources to be extracted at
great economic and environmental cost. The term sustainable development refers to the
adoption of such a model for the economy and society, which will improve people's living
standards by making intelligent use of the resources of the modern economy and can contribute
to the well-being of citizens. The transition from the traditional to the circular economy, which
includes the circular bioeconomy, is considered by both businesses and individuals involved in
the issue and by national governments as a very big opportunity that can create certain
competitive advantages on a sustainable basis.
Starting from the principles of sustainable development and the circular economy, this paper
aims to highlight ways through case studies that their application exists in business models in
the food, coffee and waste collection and processing sectors. Having the basic information from
these cases, it aims to present a new circular economy model based on the principles of
innovation and entrepreneurship.
