Conflicts in the school community due to parental involvement and the attitude of the school administrator
This dissertation focuses on the conflicts in the school community, parental involvement and the attitude of the school administrator. The research on the topic is conducted through bibliographic review of scientific articles and books that have been published on the topic, along with analyzing the findings of corresponding researches. Initially, the definitions are presented and the characteristics of the two basic terms upon which this dissertation is based. That is, the conflict and the parental intervention, the categories of which are described in detail alongside their relevance to the school context. An essential part of this study incorporates the management practices that principal uses to manage conflicts and parental intervention at school. Furthermore, the relation of Greek educational system with the family is analyzed and described, while lastly the conflicts between these two and how the principal of the school unit manages them. In order to complete this study, a questionnaire involved the quality and quantity of parental intervention at school, the way the educators have experienced it and to what extent the principal of the school empowers or disempowers the conflicts that may arise within the educational context. The findings of the research were analyzed in the final chapter of this study.
