In recent years, many researchers have focused on the Emotional Intelligence (EI) in relation to educational leadership, recognizing the major role that the principal has in a school. The EI is considered to play a significant role in the development of relationships in a working environment and in an effective leadership not only in business and industry but also in the educational area, as success is not easily measurable, by achieving various quantitative targets. The purpose of this study is to review the literature on advances in management science and, in particular, in educational leadership models. A literature review is presented on the definitions and theoretical models that have prevailed around EI as well as research that has studied the importance of EI in the management of educational organizations. It will also be proposed to integrate EI tests into the selection of school principals, so that there is high labor productivity, efficiency and satisfaction. Lastly, relevant conclusions will be presented on this issue.
