The Public Hospitals of the country supply the consumables and equipment that are necessary for their proper operation but also in compliance with the modern medical requirements. These commissions lead to mismanagement of already limited financial resources.
In the present work we compared the degree of compliance of Greek public hospitals with the European average in terms of indicators that promote transparency, healthy competition between suppliers and the result in the operation of a hospital.
To this end, a survey was conducted involving 44 hospitals, of all available types of hospitals, such as university hospitals, special, general or health centers. The questionnaire was distributed to their procurement departments, consisting of 18 questions which will give us a clear picture of the state of procurement in the Greek health system. The source of inspiration and information for our questionnaire was the Phd of Theodoros A. Komatas, "SUPPLY POLICY IN GREEK HOSPITALS", Thessaloniki 2016.
The findings of the research led us to the conclusion that despite the announcements and actions announced in recent years, unfortunately the delays, bureaucracy and lack of coordinated actions, lead to inefficient use of the already limited resources of Greek public hospitals.
