This paper deals with sustainable leadership in secondary education. Initially, the work refers to the concept of sustainable development and the goals of sustainable development, followed by the relationship between sustainable development and education. The paper then focuses on the concept of leadership and sustainable leadership, referring to the seven principles of sustainable leadership. In the second part of the work a primary quantitative research is carried out. The research aims to examine how Secondary school teachers perceive the need for sustainable school leadership and what elements they perceive to be necessary for the development of sustainable school leadership. Also, through the research, an attempt is made to explore the attitudes and views of teachers regarding sustainable leadership. More specifically, the research seeks to answer how teachers perceive sustainable school leadership, what are the main characteristics that sustainable leaders have and should have and what are the main challenges of sustainable leadership. The main conclusion of the research is that the majority of teachers agree with the seven basic principles of sustainable leadership, that sustainable leadership creates and sustains continuous learning, ensures success over time, supports the leadership of others, addresses social justice issues develops instead of depleting human and material resources, develops environmental diversity and capacity, and undertakes activist engagement with the environment.
