The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of the implementation of distance education on teachers serving in primary schools. The ultimate goals of this study are: a) to investigate the impact of the implementation of distance education on teachers from a personal as well as a professional perspective, b) to identify specific factors that have had an impact on teachers. The research was carried out via an online questionnaire on Google Forms that was distributed in a sample of 115 teachers serving in primary schools and which was selected on the basis of avalanche sampling. The results of the research showed that teachers had difficulty in transferring their teaching to the online environment. It was also found that the implementation of distance education during the pandemic was responsible for excessive work stress and fatigue, resulting in difficulty responding to their professional duties as well as their personal / family obligations. The adequacy of digital knowledge and skills, the psycho-emotional and technical support of the students, but also the motivation of the latter, led the respondents to feel pressure and stress in the implementation of distance education during the pandemic period. Also, higher stress was found in women, but also in older teachers. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures concerning the following: a) the readiness of school units to deal with e-learning situations; b) the creation of programs to enhance the digital skills of teachers, but also c) the provision of psycho-emotional support to teachers.
