During the period of the covid-19 pandemic, a solution needed to be found for the abrupt closure of schools and the "Emergency Remote Teaching" was chosen as a solution to continue learning safely, on a global scale (Anastasiadis, 2020). This brought to the fore the interest in distance education and its effects but also the extent that this new educational reality causes inequalities in social and economic level, as many students could not participate or faced problems.
This paper researches the attitudes and views of parents of primary school children regarding the consequences of distance learning in relation to socio-economic inequalities. Specifically, their attitudes and views, their perceptions of the consequences that are caused, as well as a more general description of the situation they experienced during the distance learning period. Additionally, the factors that affect the degree of effectiveness of distance learning and consequently, the implications and the obstacles that parents face, along with their views on distance learning, are analyzed.
Factors such as the economic situation and the socio-economic level in general, home infrastructure and access to equipment and the internet have been found to influence the consequences and are related to the obstacles and challenges faced by parents and their views on distance learning.
