The purpose of the present study is to study and fundamentally investigate the relationship between debt and macroeconomic variables. The first part, which consists of four chapters, is the result of the research and partial recording of key bibliographies and important studies on government debt and the macroeconomic variables selected. These four variables are growth, foreign direct investment, trade balance and exchange rate. The text contains their theoretical approach separately, the relationship between them according to macroeconomic theory and their interaction. The second part deals with statistical analysis using the simple linear regression method. The analysis used data from 1990 to 2018 from the US, Japan, the United Kingdom, India, and the Netherlands. After giving graphs of the evolution of the variables, the results are presented and is attempted to draw conclusions.
