dc.description.abstract	Μέσα από την ανάπτυξη των βιοεπιστημών αναδύθηκε η έννοια της διαρκώς ανερχόμενης Βιοοικονομίας, ενός πεδίου με έντονο επιστημονικό, αλλά και κοινωνικοπολιτικό χαρακτήρα που διέπεται από τις αρχές της Βιώσιμης Ανάπτυξης και της Κυκλικής Οικονομίας. Η Βιοοικονομία επηρεάζει άμεσα και τον φαρμακευτικό κλάδο, το αντικείμενο του οποίου συνδέεται ισχυρά με την εξέλιξη αυτής, με κοινό παρονομαστή, μεταξύ άλλων, τη Βιοτεχνολογία. Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η χαρτογράφηση των πρωτοβουλιών, των προοπτικών και των μελλοντικών τάσεων της Βιοοικονομίας στον τομέα των φαρμακευτικών προϊόντων, αλλά και η πρόταση καινοτόμων στρατηγικών που θα αποφέρουν αποτελεσματικά, ανταγωνιστικά και οικολογικά αποδοτικά βιοπροϊόντα, τόσο σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο, όσο και στην Ελλάδα. Τα ευρήματα της έρευνας καταδεικνύουν τη μετάβαση της φαρμακευτικής βιομηχανίας από το υπάρχον πρότυπο των «blockbuster» εταιρειών σε ένα πιο βιώσιμο μοντέλο βιοφαρμακευτικών επιχειρήσεων που θα ενσωματώνουν τις τεχνολογίες της νέας βιολογίας και θα αντιμετωπίζουν τις προκλήσεις των προηγούμενων ετών. Επιπλέον, για την επίλυση σύνθετων τεχνολογικών προβλημάτων, επιστρατεύεται το εργαλείο της Βιομιμητικής κι έτσι λαμβάνεται έμπνευση από τη φύση με ενδελεχή μελέτη των βιολογικών συστημάτων. Παράλληλα, για την εξασφάλιση νέων πρώτων υλών προτείνεται η χρήση προϊόντων φυτικής και θαλάσσιας προέλευσης, ιδιαίτερα για την περίπτωση της Ελλάδας όπου αυτά ευδοκιμούν. Ειδικότερα, τα φαρμακευτικά αρωματικά φυτά και η φαρμακευτική κάνναβη διακρίνονται για πλήθος σημαντικών φαρμακολογικών ιδιοτήτων, ενώ αντίστοιχα, με τη συνεισφορά και της Μπλε Βιοοικονομίας, το θαλάσσιο περιβάλλον μπορεί να αποτελέσει εξαιρετική πηγή για την παραγωγή προϊόντων με υψηλή καινοτομία. Μάλιστα, οι προσεγγίσεις αυτές μπορούν να συμβάλλουν ουσιαστικά και στη διαχείριση του μείζονος σύγχρονου ζητήματος της πανδημίας COVID-19. Συμπερασματικά, η συγκεκριμένη ανάλυση καταλήγει στο ότι η Βιοοικονομία μπορεί να παρέχει πρωτότυπες και αποδοτικές εναλλακτικές προτάσεις που θα εξελίξουν σε μεγάλο βαθμό τον φαρμακευτικό κλάδο και θα δημιουργήσουν διεξόδους για τα προβλήματα που είχαν προκύψει σε αυτόν. Πρόκειται για την πρώτη καταγεγραμμένη συστηματική έρευνα τέτοιου είδους πάνω σε αυτή τη θεματική ενότητα για την Ελλάδα.	el

dc.description.abstractEN	Through the development of life sciences, the concept of the ever-rising Bioeconomy emerged, a field with a strong scientific and socio-political character, that is inspired by the principles of Sustainable Development and the Circular Economy. Bioeconomy directly affects the pharmaceutical industry, as the two fields are strongly correlated, with Biotechnology as a common feature. The aim of this study is to map the initiatives, prospects, and future trends of Bioeconomy to the field of pharmaceutical products, but also to propose innovative strategies that will yield effective, competitive, and ecologically efficient bioproducts, both at a national and a global level. The research findings demonstrate the transition of the pharmaceutical industry from the existing model of the "blockbuster" companies to a more sustainable model of biopharmaceutical companies, that will incorporate the technologies of new biology and face the challenges of previous years. In addition, the tool of Biomimicry is used in the solution of complex technological problems and, thus, inspiration is taken from nature after a thorough study of the biological systems. At the same time, the use of herbal and marine originated products is proposed to secure sources of new raw materials, especially in the case of Greece, where they thrive. Aromatic plants and medicinal cannabis are distinguished for several important pharmacological properties, while the marine environment can be an excellent source for the generation of new products with a high innovation, due to the contribution of the Blue Bioeconomy. In fact, these approaches can make a significant contribution to managing the major contemporary issue of the COVID-19 pandemic. In conclusion, this analysis concludes that Bioeconomy can provide original and cost-effective alternatives, that will greatly evolve the pharmaceutical industry and create outlets for its problems. This is the first recorded case of systematic research of this kind on this subject in Greece.	el
