This thesis focuses on the correlation of health costs with macroeconomic variables in Middle Eastern countries. The focus in these countries is as they do not have the same level of development as other Western countries. The correlation concerns health spending per capita with some macroeconomic variables such as GDP per capita, government revenue, public debt and the public sector balance. There will also be an estimate of health costs compared with demographic variables such as life expectancy and population over 64 years old.
Two objectives were set for the purpose of the work. The first objective is the description of the increase in health expenditure, with data from international organizations and as it is presented by the existing literature, which also lists the causal factors affecting the expenditure and the second objective is the econometric analysis.
The Econometric model used to derive the results is Panel Estimation regression analysis, a method considered most appropriate due to the existence of both temporal and cross-sectional data.
These two variables found to be strongly related to one to another and have a positive impact one to the other and there is a two-way relationship between them. Meanwhile, it is not affected by demographic factors such as age and sex as health in these countries is of the utmost importance and intends to be given without restriction.
