The present study aims to investigate, based on teachers' views, peer-to-peer teaching in general and vocational high schools. The purpose of the thesis is to analyze the case of group-based teaching in Greek education, its advantages and disadvantages, and how these are confirmed by the teachers’ classroom experience in Greece. The aim of this study is to draw conclusions about the need to further promote group-based teaching in the Greek educational system, as well as the form it should take.
Specifically, the thesis consists of the theoretical part, which analyzes the definition of peer-to-peer teaching, the basic principles underlying this concept, as well as the conditions for its effective implementation and promotion in education. In addition, there is a historical overview of the generation and evolution of group-based teaching, with special reference to theoretical approaches and the broader social, economic, and other reasons that have led to this type of teaching. The advantages and disadvantages of peer-to-peer teaching for students, teacher-educators, the educational system and society in general are also described. As for the practical part, the research methodology is first analyzed, explaining and justifying the choice of each method. The results of the primary research are presented and the research findings are analyzed. Finally, the main findings of the research are summarized, the main conclusions are drawn, and ideas and directions are suggested for future research.
