Abstract

Patient compliance to medical treatment and compliance to medical directions given by professionals in the field of health, are considered crucial as far as the quality of patient’s life is concerned and important to health systems specifically when is related to chronic disease which require constant medical attention and supervision. According to the above suggestions, the aim of this survey is to investigate the association of medical compliance with the quality of life for patients who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis. Examine further procedures to improve patient compliance and to reduce the medical treatment costs. In order to confirm the correlation between those variables, as it is presented by the existing literature, a research was conducted employing two questionnaires. On one hand, The Morisky questionnaire which is utilized to calculate the medical compliance and on the other hand the Eq-5D which estimates the quality of life. The results were delivered using the Microsoft Excel program and the Statisical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). These two variables found to be strongly related to one to another and have a positive impact one to the other. More specifically, the quality of life appears to improve when the patient compliance to medical treatment presents high and medium percentages. Additionally, factors such as gender, age, state of residence, educational status and income affect positively the quality of life.
