This study explores the relationship between Gross Domestic Product and International Tourism Receipts in nine counties of the European Union. This study aims to examine the dependency relationship between Gross Domestic Product and International Tourism Receipts and to investigate whether there is causality, as well as, the direction of this causality. This study is accomplished by using a variety of econometric theories and techniques, such us Unit Root Tests, Engle Granger Cointegration, Error Correction Models and Granger Causality. The empirical part of this study uses annual observations of the Gross Domestic Product and International Tourism Receipts for nine countries of the European Union. The analysis carried out for the Belgium, France, Finland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. All the data were collected from the database of World Bank and covers the period from 1995 to 2017.
