Oil price fluctuations and freight rates are the result of the financial instability that exists worldwide. The issue this paper is dealt with is the influence of the change in the price of oil which can affect the freight rates in the spot market.
The present analysis aims at interpreting the above question using, basically, historical and political data. At the same time, previous available surveys and articles, which originate both from Greek and the worldwide literature were used. Investigating the research framework, an attempt was made to analyze the evolution of oil prices and freight rates based on the supply and demand model that characterizes the shipping model.
