Public health, as a concept, is greater hygiene and prevention, addressed mainly to populations and communities and includes intersectoral activities implemented by multidisciplinary methodology and approach. The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of different healthcare systems (Beveridge, Bismarck and Liberal) based on seven countries: England, France, Germany, Greece, United States, Canada and Sweden. In the writing of the study the author used a number of sources of information, including scientific articles and official reports, with detailed description of healthcare systems and of oral and dental care systems of every country. These materials were identified in research platforms (Google Scholar, NCBI Pub Med, and Science Direct) using search terms such as "health system" and "systems of oral and dental care”, as well as the names of countries that were included in the study (e.g. "Greek healthcare system"). Studied articles were in Greek and English. For comparative analysis, the following indicators were selected: (1) the coverage of oral and dental care, (2) funding, (3) the organization, management and efficiency of oral and dental care systems, and (4) the results of the oral and dental care systems. The macro-analysis of health care systems, and in particular of oral and dental health, can help in the understanding of how different countries organize and provide health care to their populations. These analyses provide information on how things can be done properly, so that the ultimate goal, which is improving the health the population, can be achieved. In fact, the design and content of a general healthcare system, in conjunction with features such as coverage, funding and the way delivery is done, can play an important role in improving health results.
