Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with one of the most serious issues that humanity has to face, the pollution of the environment. In the dissertation, we try to show that economic activity in states has a negative impact on the environment, with inequalities, unreasonable consumption of natural resources and the important restrictive policies that we have to put in place to reverse environmental pollution. We also refer to the measures that the international community is trying to implement to address the problem. Our sample consists of chronological data for the OECD countries and by econometric methods we prove the existence of the Kuznets environmental curve.
