Abstract

The aim of the current thesis is to reveal any possible correlation between the throughput of European container ports and the economic growth of their hinterland in terms of regional GDP and employment. At the first part, there is a theoretical approach in the role of the European container ports in the regional economic growth, their connections with their hinterland and the impacts that they are causing, either positives or negatives. At the second part, there is a statistic analysis based on the expressed theory intending to explain how the European container port-cities affect their regional GDP and their employment level.
