Undoubtedly, the international trade in crude oil holds a fairly large share today in trade between countries. Besides, under the conditions of the large open economy, which we have few states in the world now, they are hindering the free movement of goods as this is beneficial for all.
The purpose of this paper was to record the trends of crude oil trading internationally and the developments in the maritime transport sector. More specifically, the aim was to highlight the most important ports of crude oil traffic and their comparative presentation. The paper presents some of the major and largest crude oil management ports worldwide, but due to a lack of availability of information, it focuses its research on the major and largest oil management ports in Europe. The survey found among others that the largest oil harbor in Europe is that of Rotterdam mainly due to the possibility of receiving large vessels. In turn, the largest ports are Rotterdam, Antwerp, Marseilles, Botsas of Turkey, Bergen, Amsterdam, Milford Haven and Le Havre. The most specialized ports in the EU are Milford Haven in the United Kingdom and Bergen in Norway, where almost 90% of the cargo they handle is liquid cargoes, mainly oil.
