The purpose of this study is the “Development of Business Opportunities in Tourism” and specifically “The Study of Alternative Forms of Tourism”. The choice of this issue is a result of the need to combine tourism and sustainable development. There is a reference to the basic meanings of tourism and an analysis of its alternative and specific forms. In our days, tourism could be the most important part of the development of a region, because it can bring multiple revenue. It therefore seems necessary for the region to make good use of its competitive advantages while ensuring the sustainability of tourism development. This is achieved by applying the alternative forms of tourism. In Greece, there are many cases of alternative tourism which are profitable, so in this paper we choose to present two of them and make the comparisons needed among their characteristics.
