The Master Thesis under the title "The Passage Regime of Commercial and Warship
Vessels through the International Navigation Straits and the case of the Bosporus and
the Dardanelles" intends to present the historical evolution of the regimes for the
passage of private and public vessels through the International Navigation Straits.
The main characteristics of the canals and straits of International Navigation are
presented and reference is made to the most well-known canals and the most important
International Navigation Straits.
The Master Thesis is completed with the presentation of the case of the Turkish Straits
(Bosporus Strait, Dardanelles Strait and the Sea of Marmara), its geopolitical and
historical role as well as its characteristics, which affect the passage of ships. Special
mention is made in the Conventions that historically govern the status of the Turkish
Straits.
