Emotional intelligence is a relatively new scientific area of research, which applications have been quite popular in recent years in the world of businesses and organization. Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to recognize personal and others’ emotions, with the result these to be incorporated and facilitate thought and its regulation, enhancing personal growth. In the same time, emotional intelligence’s significant role in the personnel selection processes lies in the fact that emotional abilities are now considered as much important as the rest professional competencies, given the fact that emotional intelligence in the workplace has been proven to be linked with higher personal productivity and improved organizational performance. Aim of this thesis in the investigation of the theoretical background of the subject of emotional intelligence, focusing on the use, application and assessment of emotional intelligence during the processes of personnel recruitment and selection, through the examination of 10 case studies of businesses and organizations that apply relevant practices.
