This essay was submitted as part of acquisition of the Degree of Master in Arts in
Economics and Business Strategy of the Department of Economics in University of Piraeus.
Its purpose is to provide the necessary knowledge to the reader in order to understand the
comparative advantage the self-managed funds - A.T.Y. have, which are legal entities of
private law - N.P.I.D., in relation to insurance organizations which are legal entities of public
law - N.P.D.D., and are in majority in our country.
To achieve this objective, in this essay we analyze the health services consumption profile
of Bank of Greece health fund - A.T.P.S.Y.T.E. This Fund continues providing high quality
health services, despite the problems that exist over time and interfere with the normal
functioning.
In this essay we have been presented in detail the Fund's resources, health care and
management costs, as well as these in other branches, for twelve years time 2000-2011.
Moreover, we have been presented subsidies on health paid by the principal employer of the
Fund, Bank of Greece - T.t.E., without the contribution of which it would not operate.
All my research is surrounded by tables and financial - arithmetical figures, which in my
opinion makes the reading more informed and more methodical for the reader in order to
make his own conclusions.
The essay concludes with a critical assessment of the proposed measures taken mainly by
the insured of the Fund, so as to affordable services be provided.
