Health is one of the highest human goods and all citizens of all countries should be able to have access to high quality health services. These services are specifically provided to citizens through the health system of the country where they live or reside temporarily. The purpose of this thesis is to set out the main trends in the field of global health, which will shape future healthcare systems. In the context of this thesis the way the healthcare systems work is presented, their development is reviewed and the major factors leading to their evolution are specified. Particular emphasis is placed on new technologies, and on the development and adoption of innovation, fields that are set as high social priorities because of their enormous impact both in everyday life and in the economic and healthcare system of the future. 5-6 years ago it would be hard to imagine the ever increasing billions of users on social media in smartphones or medical applications, a world seen through google glass, the Watson supercomputer used in medical decision making, exoskeletons that allow paralyzed people to walk or printing medical materials and bio-materials in three dimensions. The above are not science fiction but a new world that requires preparation and in light of which everyone should acquire skills. For this thesis it is assumed that the health sector follows the economic model of supply and demand and by specifying the trends worldwide in the field of health ways of managing changes in the levels of demand as well as the factors that lead to these changes are studied. Hence, I hope this study can serve as a tool for a fruitful dialogue concerning methods of adjusting the supply of health services to the requested levels, both quantitatively and qualitatively, in a manner not detrimental to each state and profitable for all people. This work is not a guess, it was completed using gestalt theory, in which we see an organized whole as more than the sum of its parts, which is a combination of inherent causative factors considered together to determine whether a particular situation could be possible, which is what psychologists refer to as "the depth of the search”. Finally, a thorough reviewed of both scientific literature and global organizations and consultancy firm’s publications was done for this thesis, as well as a series of communications and correspondence with members of the international scientific community.
